Night) April 20 (Elections) May 18 (Past President and Ladies Night) June 1 (Installation of Officers) June 15 (Lions BBQ) Fellow Lions: For the last 54 years the Simcoe Lions have staged a first rate variety show as a fundraiser in the Simcoe Composite School Gym. The gym was extensively damaged by fire and the Waterford Lions helped us put the show on in their school. The fire was a devastating blow to the students, the school board and our club but we have joined together to plan, finance and build a new enlarged facility with a state-of-the-art stage component. The “Rising From The Ashes” project, as it is known, is well under way and we hope it will be finished by the time our 2005 show is ready. But that’s not all! The purpose of this letter is to give your club and its members an opportunity to share in a unique project, which will transform this new facility into the Simcoe Lions Theatre, making it a facility useable by all the surrounding communities. We are planning to purchase storable, cushioned theatre style seats for the use of area organizations including ours. These seats will be stored in the school but they will be the property of the Simcoe Lions. To carry this plan out we need your help. A block of seats will be identified as the Lions of A-2 section and we are requesting that each club in the district sponsor one or more seats in this section. Each seat will have a plaque identifying the donor club and a list of donors will be printed in all published programs. A donation of $250 per seat will place your club among our many distinguished donors. If an individual makes a donation it, of course, is tax deductible. Cheques from clubs and individuals should be made payable to the Simcoe Lions Club. Please join the other clubs in our district to again show the strength of Lions working together to provide service to our communities. Yours in Lionism, Lion Don Daley, PDG. R.
